In Asia, one cannot talk of the environment without including culture. This is what Cultural and Environmental Information Exchange (CEIE) seeks to emphasize by engaging with traditional communities across Asia and Europe.

CEIE is an online communication for virtual exchange. CEIE directly responds to communities struggling to manage their resources under the pressure of cultural change.

Environment studies and social sciences help strengthen, clarify and articulate what people instinctively feel: the close interrelatedness between people, their way of life, and their landscape.

While culture transfers resource responsibility through generations, it can be weakened or damaged by external pressures. The challenge is to find new ways that enable traditional communities to re-assert their responsibility for and control over resources. As a global exchange, CEIE is one way of meeting this challenge. CEIE helps people understand change and promote agreements.
