Once surrounded by mangrove forests, the area on the coastline of Tayabas Bay in San Juan, Batangas was ideal for the private beach house which the late Arsenio Lopez, Jr. and his wife Ofelia built for their family.

ESSC recognizes the key role that owners of beach houses, sea-side properties, abandoned ponds and beach resorts can now play in making a difference for the Philippine environment. The ESSC mangrove webpage is an on-line resource providing the above stakeholders with practical guides for selecting, planting, and propagating trees and caring for the beach forest and mangrove ecosystems in private properties.

Below is a list of native beach tree, mangrove and mangrove associate species that ESSC has worked with in its regeneration efforts for Philippine beach forests and mangroves.  As our work continues and as you share with us your own experiences in propagating and planting, we hope for this list to grow.
